Southernsbroadstock has secured contracts with three UK universities worth nearly £5 million, as it expands its footprint within the higher education sector.

The contracts include the design, supply and installation of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) for Leeds Beckett University, the London School of Economics (LSE) and Coventry University.

The appointments reinforce Southernsbroadstocks extensive experience within the higher education sector, where current clients include the University of Manchester, the University of Birmingham and Durham University.

Southernsbroadstock is part of Extentia Group, a group of specialist companies dedicated to every facet of the built environment.

Tony Lenehan, chief executive of Extentia Group, said:

“We know that a key challenge facing higher education estates teams is ensuring maximum utilisation of space while also creating a campus environment that caters to multiple learning styles and needs. The improvements that these projects will deliver will help our customers to deliver this high quality student experience through the creation of productive learning environments and resilient infrastructure.”

“We’re continuing to see strong demand from the higher education sector as institutions respond to increasing competition and seek partners with the expertise to deliver time-sensitive projects without disrupting student life.”

“These contracts reflect our focus on targeting predictable, non-cyclical sources of work across the group and that the capabilities of our specialist brands are continuing to resonate in the group’s key markets.”

SouthernBroadstock has secured a four-year single-source contract with Leeds Beckett University. It will see the firm deliver ongoing project support including design consultations, spatial plans, furniture layout and colour scheme proposals, and guidance on health and safety.

Its £1.4 million contract with LSE will see it supply furnishings for the institution’s flagship Centre Building Redevelopment project, a new state-of-the-art teaching facility. On completion, the centre will house two new lecture theatres, study spaces to facilitate both group work and private study, and purpose-built academic facilities for five existing Departments. Southernsbroadstock is leading the design and space planning consultation, as well as delivery and installation services.

At Coventry University, Southernsbroadstock has delivered £1.6 million worth of refurbishment work across the campus. This includes work on the £33 million Mile Lane campus, where Southernsbroadstock delivered an £860,000 contract to provide furnishings for the facility’s classrooms, teaching spaces, staff offices, café, breakout areas and library.
