Manchester Metropolitan University.
Manchester Metropolitan University were seeking to update their Business School’s interiors to bring them in line with their newly upgraded All Saints building. The Business School is a triple accredited institution that offers a variety of internationally recognised qualifications. As an educational body that places a high emphasis on the student experience, MMU aimed to create inspiring environments across its facilities.
The Brief
MMU wanted to refurbish a range of their interiors to increase the number of both collaborative and individual study spaces available to the students. Time was of the essence for this project. As such, they required a specialist with a proven track record for delivery within a strict timeframe. After the proven success and popularity of the recently installed study spaces in the All Saints building, by Southernsbroadstock. We re-visited, providing furniture to enhance the education experience at the Manchester Metropolitan University.
Meeting challenges by adapting quickly
The Business School already had a clearly defined colour scheme, and it was important to provide furniture that matched the existing style. To avoid delays, Southernsbroadstock worked closely with the client to create a list of 1st and 2nd choice furniture options in case ranges were out of stock. This helped to protect lead times and keep the project flowing. A collaborative approach with external suppliers also ensured that the installation process remained on track. Where certain areas were not yet ready, our team would install as much as possible in other spaces, and then return to finish to give other contractors room to work.
Inspiring modern designs
Southernsbroadstock furnished a number of different spaces at MMU. This included IT labs, communal spaces, as well as meeting rooms. We supplied our versatile and streamlined range of Bowcliffe tables and chairs to create a clean look across each interior. For breakout spaces, soft furnishings provide a welcome place for students and faculty to relax and chat. While
the addition of laptop tables also make them a convenient touchdown point for ad hoc meetings and working on-the-go.
Catering to diverse work habits
Modern Higher Education interiors demand versatile micro-environments where students can find a preferred way of working. Our team installed our Arc booths styled in the Business School colour scheme to provide private, distraction-free zones for students. Low-backed seating now offers a place to sit and discuss ideas, while keeping the look of the room open and airy. In formal meeting rooms, multi-use furniture was supplied with the ability to be rearranged to suit any type of collaborative work or presentation.
